It’s hard to believe a year has come and gone. It’s time once again for the New England Association of Fire Chief’s 95th Annual Conference and Exposition! On behalf of the members and officers of the New England Association of Fire Chiefs I would like to welcome you to this year’s Fire/Rescue/EMS Expo. Shipman’s Fire Equipment will continue to demonstrate their generosity and partnership with the fire service this year as the Cooperate Sponsor. Once again the Expo is being held at Foxwoods Resort and Casino where you can park, attend the show and participate in professional development without having to leave the building. In addition, there are many things to do for entertainment which include night life events with great restaurants, and it is perfect for family activities as well. There is a beautiful large pool and games for the family and kids. The Expo provides you with an opportunity and time to meet old friends and network with new colleagues!
We have a full schedule starting with golf on Wednesday at River Ridge Golf Course in Griswold, CT. The New England Association of Fire Chief’s Annual meeting will follow later in the afternoon.
There will be a full day of education on Thursday with three different programs. Thursday afternoon we will recognize those who are no longer with us in body with the Firefighter’s Memorial mass complete with bag pipers. The Presidential Banquet and Celebration will be held at the same location after the memorial service Thursday evening; this year we have Pierce Ave for entertainment.
On Friday, our Key Note Speaker is Boston Fire Commissioner Joseph Finn providing Lessons Learned at the Back-Bay fire. Educational opportunities will continue after that with breakout sessions in the morning and afternoon. The Partners Event will be a trip on the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat complete with a 3-course lunch. Once again Shipman’s as our Cooperate Sponsor will close the evening by hosting a free dinner and cocktail party with live music on the Celebrity level in Fox Tower.
Friday and Saturday the Expo will be in full swing with over 108 exhibits including fire apparatus inside and outside. The new hours are; Friday 09:00-17:30, and Saturday 09:00-15:00.
You will find more about these programs in the program book or on line. The only way to register for the conference is on line @ www.newenglandfirechiefs.org.
Just as it was last year this will be the event of fire service events in New England! You don’t want to miss it! We are hoping to see all of you and wish you safe travels to a great conference and exposition. See you in June!
